Epson R2880 and 13" wide rolls of true fine art paper
« on: September 01, 2015, 10:05:34 am »

Hi to you all.
I own an Epson R2880 converted to Pierzography inks.
The printer takes 13" wide paper, such as Epson Exhibition Canvas Matte or Premium Semi Glossy, but I would like to test 3rd party rolls of true fine art papers.
unfortunately, it seems that Canson, Ilford, MOAB, Hahnemuehle, and so on, only supply 17" (or more) wide rolls.
I've tried to search the web for alternative providers or other solutions, without success.
Therefore, i will be grateful for any suggestion you can provide.

the availability of 13" roll 'fine art' paper is very slim.

You may be forced to either cut down from 17" or just use 13x19 cut sheets

You also say you are testing. You do not need the rolls for that.
Get some cut sheet sample packs and find the one or several that you like.
Order a larger roll of the one or two you like and find a shop with a roll slitter (Many sign shops have them.) and cut them down to size.
I have cut several myself with my mitresaw. Works very well.

Hi Dan, thank you for your answer.
Well, due to my poor english I'm afraid I did not explain myself clearly.
For some years now I've been using Epson printers (Stylus Photo and Stylus Pro).
I've already used various fine art papers.
I want to start using roll papers because, obviously,  rolls give me more freedom to print panoramic scenes, and I wanto to do it with my R2880 and Piezography inks.
I still hope to find a pre-cut 13" roll professional dealer, otherwise I will follow your suggestions.

Hi Roberto,

The only fine art paper I came across and that is available in 13" rolls is Hahnemühle Photo Rag 188 gsm (see reference number 10 640 239 at the Hahnemühle website). I have no idea if it is available in your country.

Other papers are available such as Permajet Oyster 271. Note that this particular paper might not suit your definition of a fine art paper since this is an RC paper with lots of OBA.

Cheers,

Fabien

Hi Fabien, thank you very much for the useful informations about Hahnemühle rolls!

Ok, I've found what I was looking for: Hahnemühle Photo Rag and Somerset Enhanced Velvet.
Thank you all!

Beautiful print, Roberto!  Don't you love it when when it all comes together like that?!

It's times like this that LuLa needs a "Like" button.
