Hebrides
« on: August 31, 2015, 02:08:32 pm »

I've got an opportunity to get to the Outer Hebrides next week (as part of a longer trip), and wondered if anyone here has any advice over how to split the trip up.

My current thinking is to travel out with a car to Harris from Ullapool, spend three nights on Lewis, then take the ferry to the Uists and Benbecula for two nights before heading home via Oban.

The ferry tickets allow Barra to be added fairly cheaply - is there anything that different there (compared to the other islands), or am I better to maximize the time I have on these locations?

I know I should really take a lot longer over it, however given the limited time, does this split seem right for the range of subjects for photography?

Are there any particular locations on the islands I should prioritize visiting?

I would especially appreciate any comments soon, as I need to finalize my plans tomorrow before leaving home.

Thanks,

Simon

I would go out via Skye and then Uig to Harris and this allows access to Lewis and Harris. This is slightly shorter and to my mind nicer. Do you know about Hopscotch tickets on Cal Mac?
