Interleave technique on Canon iPF8400
« on: August 07, 2015, 02:48:23 pm »

Any advice on making/using interleave for protecting agains scratches during printing?

Questions about printing transparent films or Japanese Washi papers or any "weak" media.

My printer is an iPF8400. Canon - in a formal letter - tells me it is not compatible with clear films, although it appears on media menus.
Printing on such media puts scratches behind the media.
Putting the media on a kind of paper interleave would protect the media.

Is there any well known method of putting an interleave (what media, single or double face tape, etc.)
Do we need to tape it on all the length or not bond it anyway other than the leading paper edge, etc?
Double face tape is relatively expensive and not availabe in less than 1/2 inch wide.

Concerns: printing up to 44" large, detection problems if using siliconed brown kraft paper as interleave for printing on clear film.

Thanks,
Marc
