As a 3880 user, here are my thoughts.........

the roll adaptor is overpriced @ $200 (1/5th the cost of the printer)
the 800 doesnt have a cutter or vacuum hold down
how many pano's are you really going to do?  I thought I'd do lots but in reality, not many and 99% are less than 37" limit of the 3880

These are the key issues.  I did some quality assurance work for Museo a couple of years ago when they reformulated Silver Rag and they sent me a free roll.  I've been cutting 17x25 sheets from the roll for printing larger and this has worked just fine.  I bought a large conservation box from Archival Supplies to hold the cut paper.  I've read both Keith's and Mark's reviews on the new printer and while this option looks nice, I'm not sure for my own purposes that it's cost effective.  Of course my 3880 works just fine and until it dies I'm not interested in a new printer. ;D
