NEC now believes that the PA242A had the wrong or incomplete firmware loaded. It cannot be loaded by the user since a special tool is needed to do that. A new replacement monitor is on the way.

I'm pretty sure, one of the 575 people who've viewed this thread (thus far) was just about to suggest it was a firmware issue but NEC tech, beat that person to the punch.

IOW, the thread served no purpose, the people who understand how this product works would eventually figure it out, or send you a new unit. And hopefully, it will not flicker!  :o

New unit stays calibrated on power down and up; serial numbers on label, in OSD and in SpectraView all agree! No signs of flicker, but with the P242W it took 18 months and 1 month for the original unit and the replacement unit respectively to develop flicker; time will tell.

Note to Andrew Rodney: no need for another smart aleck remark.

See you in 19 months then.
