Louisiana Bayou version 2

Appreciate the feedback.
Taking the suggestions to open up the shadows and giving the circle of ripples more emphasis, here's a second try.
All comments and critiques welcome.

To my eyes, the shadows could still use some opening up. I know bayous are dark, but there's lots of light in this scene.

To be honest, I also think the scene is missing something. I don't feel a lot of movement through the composition, nor am I noticing anything that would draw my eye in for a second or third look. In other words, the photograph isn't "speaking" to me, but that's just one set of eyes. Perhaps others can provide more helpful feedback.
