The sky looms with dark intensity as storm clouds sweep over the Tetons...thunder mountain.

I've got to find this vista! Didn't Ansel shoot from about this same spot?

Yes, AA and just about everyone else who visits the Grand Tetons - understandably so! It's a classic view. I've never been, but my best guess is that it where the pin shows in the attached map. I Googled the traffic there and it is orange and red - you can imagine how busy it is!!

Great photo, though!

The trees have grown since the Adams image.

Thanks all. AA's pic was taken in the same spot but I would say about 20-30ft left. This was taken on Saturday, 23 May my wife's birthday and she and my daughter were with me. The weather was foul. We arrived there around lunch but after about 10 minutes it was raining so hard I gave up. We drove to the lodge, celebrated her birthday with cake and drove back since it was on our way out the park. That is when I captured this image.

Wow. I don't - like a lot of others - live in America and haven't visited so don't worry if it has been done to death because a lot of members won't have seen this scene and if they have they will have like me forgotten it because of age. :)

Thanks all! I printed this on my Epson 3880 a couple of days ago. After killing a tree or two I'm pleased how it came out.
