« on: August 05, 2015, 01:25:47 am »

I want to take advantage of faster transfer rates for USB3
( tethering works  fine for me with USB2 extension cable )

I bought  generic  USB 3 extension cable 5 m put extra power adapter in it
( as recommended ) nut no go on my most recent MAC ( yosemite )
any suggestions for USB 3 extension roughly 3 - 5 m  cable that works
( I use original Canon USB 3 connector  cable  close to the camera )

Hi Jann,

Just to check it is cable related or something else, have you tried a short(er) cable?

Cheers,
Bart

It is  cabl erelated issue -
I want 5 m cable - so I bought active version.

( that has a power input for 5V converter that I have and checked both with and without )

Old school 5 m USB cable ( not active ) works flawlessly - but of course has lower transfer rate .

Did you find the solution?
I evaluate the same currently. As I remember I read somewhere the additional cable is limited in a certain length, about 1m, and I think the original canon cable is 1.2m. Could be a solution. Thats why I hesitated buying a "powered" extension cable till now.

Good luck and keep us updated!
