Hoooo me?
« on: July 31, 2015, 05:11:39 am »

I took this photo of an owl in 2009 using an Oly E3 with 50-200 SWD lens wide open at f3.5.
The detail and quality of the photo is unreal, who says older gear can't produce excellent shots.
Comments welcome.

Nice shot!

I look at him and I try to imagine what his dinosaur ancestor looked like.

That is one regal bird. Beautiful sharpness, especially the detail around his (her?) eyes.

That is stunning! I love owls, they are hard to find and photograph.

As for "old gear," guess what Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, and Paul Strand used <g>? It's the photographer, not the gear.

Lovely, enjoyed it.  Was this in a zoo, or in the wild?

Thanks Jerry,

The birds were part of an exhibition, they were tethered to prevent them flying off, but the trainer allowed them to fly onto his glove to feed them.
I got a few shots of the birds perched on trees, they were used to human proximity so didn't scare if you got a bit too close.
I'll post another couple to show what I mean.
