Sweat bee on honeysuckle
« on: July 26, 2015, 01:33:14 pm »

I have been practicing my macrophotography over the last few days. Here's one that I'm rather pleased to show: a sweat bee gathering pollen from a japanese honeysuckle blossom. Equipment used includes a Canon 7D, EF-S60mm macro lens with 36mm extension tube, Yongnuo 568EXII flash and transceivers (on L bracket). I welcome your C&C and thank you for your interest.

Beautiful.

(You could replace the dark background as that transition line distracts.)

My thoughts exactly!

Thanks Rajan and stamper. I'll see what I can do about the dark background. - Bob

In PS use the quick selection tool to select the flower and the insect and inverse the selection and then New Fill Layer and fill with white. It should only take a couple of minutes if you are familiar with the process.

Thanks stamper. I am familiar with the process, and will do so later this evening, with hopes of posting a revised image in this thread. - Bob

I agree with the comment on the background. Did the use of flash scare the bee away?

Not really.  My movements and attempts to get in focus did more to spook the bee than the flash firing.

Bob...Fantastic macro.
If the background can be the same color, it'd be perfect.
