Pinout to re wire Hensel striplight to Broncolor
« on: July 19, 2015, 10:02:57 pm »

I would like to have an electrician rewire the 20 pin connectors of my Hensel strip lights to suit my Broncolor Packs.
Does anyone know where I might find the pinout diagrams for both the Broncolor and Hensel connectors?
Cheers
Jeremy

Thanks Nick, I'll shoot them an email.
We're based in Melbourne Australia so it won't be practical to send our units to them, but maybe they'll share the info.

Jeremy I've got  Hensel pack that has been re-wired here in NZ to take Bowens so I'm sure it's doable..

That table is exactly what I need. I just can't quite read it, I can only seem to get an image that is 240 pixels wide!

If the Hensels and Broncolor are the same voltage (I don't think they are), Flash Clinic (or someone local) could make you a cable that would adapt one to the other. They used to sell a lot of cables to run Profoto Acute ring flashes on Dyna-lite packs. That worked because they are the same voltage, which the higher level Profoto packs are not.

I´m on holiday right now, I´ll try to find it somewhere though. It is absolutely no problem to do the conversion. You´ll have to remove the trigger capacitor of the unit. It was placed in the plug in early units, later they put it in the heads because of the wires mechanical fell off the capacitors after some time in the plug. There is one other important thing, if you intend to use this head with grafit or scoro packs, move or similar: You´ll need to check the flash tubes. If they have three electrodes (not counting the trigger) be careful, they might exceed the max. current draw these units are rated for, resulting in an expensive damage of the cut-off boards. If you have a grafit pack it is easy to check though. Just let me know.

Cheers, Ulf

Thanks Ulf.
Any hands on experience would be excellent.
