Andrew:  I suggest you aim for sharp focus on the eyes.  You don't have breasts like Madam Cameron.  :)

All I can recall in the way of vision experiments is a short pilot study tracking eye movements in pathologist trainees and experienced pathologists while evaluating tissue on a microscope slide. Not too surprisingly, the experienced pathologists are more efficient. This is an efficiency of pattern recognition task.
