Traveling between Frederick, MD and Birmingham, AL
« on: July 13, 2015, 07:02:53 am »

I've decided to drive from Frederick to Birmingham rather than taking dreaded air travel, and am curious if anyone has any good suggestions for landscapes along the way that would be worthy of an hour's (or so) detour along the way to photograph.  I will be traveling close to the Smokies and past Knoxville, Chattanooga (Lookout Mt), the Tennessee River, the northwest corner of Georgia, and on I-81, I-40, I-75, and I-59.  Because my wife does not like long drives, we will probably break the trip into two days staying overnight around Knoxville, TN (therein allowing a photo op).  Any ideas would be appreciated.
