Print Workshops
« on: July 12, 2015, 04:51:13 pm »

Hello all.

To keep it short - I make fine art prints here in India,
and am visiting US in August.
I have been self-taught, and hence, was wondering if there is
any print / fine art printing  workshop that you are aware of,
which I could attend in August?

My father always says, "The day you think you know it all, will be the last day of your learning"

Hence, want to keep the learning ball rolling  :)

Just thinking out loud here - It would probably be a good idea to have a category in LuLa
which showcases all the print workshops happening across the globe?  Im sure so many can benefit from that.

Thanks a ton in advance.  ;D

You didn't say what cities or states you will be visiting, but if you can find your way to Lee, Massachusetts, you are more than welcome to come visit me at Aardenburg Imaging & Archives. I don't offer a formal printmaking workshop at this time, but we can spend a day or two discussing your printmaking knowledge and interests, and I can fill in the gaps to get you to the next level.  I can reasonably guarantee you will learn something you didn't already know, and there would be no course fees... You can donate to the AaI&A digital print research fund any amount you think is commensurate with what you learned.

best,
Mark

Thats SUPER generous of you Mark.

I am mostly in Chicago, and then Yellowstone (I shoot a lot of wildlife and nature)
So Im guessing the easiest is for me to fly to Lee from Chicago?

It would probably be easier to fly into Albany, New York and do about an hour of driving.

I dont think Lee actually has a significant airport.

Correct. Albany or Bradley International Airport in Connecticut is where to fly into from Chicago or anywhere else for that matter. Both airports are about 1 hour from Lee. If Isml can work out the time and travel to either airport, we can work out the details on the transportation for the final leg of the journey :)

BTW, Wyoming is a fantastic state. Very dear to me. i spent a few summers working on a ranch outside of Buffalo Wyoming in my youth. too long ago for me to dare say.  Yellowstone is a fantastic photo opportunity, but the Big Horn mountains in the central part of the state are where I learned what the  Kodachrome color palette was all about!

best,
Mark

Well, it's not in the US, but if you fancy a week on an island in the Great Barrier Reef then this is the best print workshop that you will ever find.
I have attended it twice.

Thanks so much @howardm.
And Mark you too.
I will look into the dates and will update you in a PM about the same.

Thank again!!

@BobShaw - I have read about Les and would def go there .. hopefully sooner than next year.
But considering that I am going to be in the US for a select few days,
I wanted to share my best practices with those equally inclined.

But as you mentioned - Les is definitely in the first 3 on my list now. :)
