But, the grand prize for 'analness', when it comes to freezing time, has to go to Ron Fricke. When he shot his movie Samsara, the small crew had to lug around 70 pieces of cargo...to 26 countries.

Highly rec the movie for prettiness. Mesmerizing and beautiful film. Interesting fact, film had a budget of 4 million and the box office receipts didn't even meet the budget for production costs.

Just underscores that pretty pix are a dime a dozen...or even free.

Samsara should have won an Oscar for something. It's an awesome movie and a testament to under-appreciated art.

It seems this is the kind of movie that works better on TV.  Not many people would spend the cost of theater tickets for a travelogue, as terrific as it may be.  Was it ever shown on broadcast or cable?
