Sunset sky
« on: July 08, 2015, 09:08:18 am »

Denver is a special place in my heart. It's so close to nature. This picture was taken from the city.
Sorry for posting lots of pictures. Haven't been here for a while.

I've kind of gone off of sunsets because we see so many but the simplicity in this one is very nice.

The arching and waves of the clouds, together with the silhouette of the hills,  results in a very compelling image.

Those soft colors and the ridgeline just shout nature to me… I agree with your remark about Denver, it's a very nice city/region, really close to some breathtaking places.

Thanks very much for your kind words, my friend.
Where are you located?
Denver is a very special place. Our kids've grown up here. It's very closed to nature. Rock National Park is only 75 miles away.

I'm far away now, in Switzerland but I used to be in Boulder (about 15 years ago). RNP was a very convenient weekend escape!

Nope, in Switzerland. Initially, I wanted to be in southern California but for different reasons got back to Europe.

That cloud is beautiful. Can someone tell us more about the physics of that cloud shape? I think it might be shaped by a higher velocity current like a jetstream, but I am not so sure.

Adhika...Thanks for your kind words!
Denver is a "Mile high city". The clouds are uncommonly dramatic. This is not an artifact but a true mother nature.
