The Clouds and Showers
« on: July 06, 2015, 04:48:31 pm »

The sunset was just a faint glimmer but the approaching thunderstorms did wonderful things to the clouds as showers passed over the sea out towards the horizon.   For a cloudy evening with the threat of heavy rain at and time, it was most enjoyable  :)

The clouds and showers are beautifully captured. The sign must have meaning for those local to the area. For me, who is not, it sucks the life out of an otherwise beautiful photograph.

+1.

I'd clone out the sign and leave the rocks.

Nice shot Phil.

The sign is actually what makes it work for me because of it's obviously industrial form against the sky and that very maritime green colour against the sky blue.

I grew up in a coastal town with a heavily industrialised river. It obviously imprinted me aesthetically; I'm fascinated by the interaction ( collision? ) of the elemental force of the sea & the colours & utilitarian form of sea going craft, buoys, cranes etc.

Your picture captures that interaction for me.

For me the sign stays otherwise a fine image becomes a banal image.

Thanks guys.  Must admit I prefer the marker in the image (suppose I would as I composed it this way) and I am slowly forming a small project with images containing the markers on this beach (there are 4 of them) under different conditions.  But the sky was wonderful that evening :-)
