display weirdness
« on: July 05, 2015, 04:55:00 am »

The forum display on both my Macs suddenly changed yesterday, for no apparent reason. The line spacing is much increased, I think doubled, and the font used for members' names has changed. Since it's happened on both my machines, I assume it must be a setting on this site, rather than on either Mac. I didn't fiddle with anything (I'm a firm believer in the "if it ain't broke..." maxim).

It affects only the forum, not the main site. I really don't like it. Any suggestions gratefully received.

Jeremy

It seems that this is part of the new trend, in the name of Responsive Web Design (technique for building websites that work on mobile devices, tablets, and desktop screens).
Many sites, including Paypal, email providers, bloggers, etc. are switching to the new look.

If it is any consolation, I don't like it either. Responsive maybe, but very ineffective for reading and highly annoying to boot.

But it happened suddenly, yesterday afternoon. I can even pinpoint the time (it was immediately after I'd posted in the panorama rights thread). I was hoping it was a setting here that I could change, but there's nothing in the display preferences.

I've noticed it too - on all iMacs, iPads, iPhones.
This must be a design decision at LuLa HQ, not a preference setting.

Edit:
Line spacing in the posts haven't changed, just the 'non-bold' thread title and user name.

Yes - some kind of database weirdness that happened yesterday.

It's certainly not something intended!

Since yesterday was a US holiday, it's taking more time than usual to fix...

Thanks, Jeff. I'd missed that thread.

We are aware of the problem.  Had a few issues and got most cleaned up yesterday.  Our guys will have this fixed by Monday if not sooner.

Along with all the other things you guys do well I have to say that your responsiveness to user issues is phenomenal!
My thanks to the team.
