sinar 54H, advice needed!
« on: June 28, 2015, 10:44:15 pm »

Hi guys,

Im going to pull a trigger and get the old multishot sinar 54h digital back.
However I never shot medium format, nor large format cameras, so reading about it is quite confusing.
For example, when looking at large format cameras options, I dont get how would my digital back communicate with a shutter (is there a special cable or interface to be used?) and im not sure if I can get any lenses/shutters combinations or is it only one specific kind that will work.

Can you please enlight me, and describe me in the layman terms, what should I pick if going for large format, and what to choose in medium format to make the most of this little gem.
I can't decide which system to choose (MF/LF), so some beginners "how to" would be really appreciated.

Thanks a lot!

you need a special cable. To use the benefits of 4-shot, you need a camera with self-cocking shutter like the Sinar p3 with e-shutter or CMV-lens, or Sinar m

Thanks, for answering for my beginner's question.
Do you happen to know a name of this special cable?
Also, can i use sinar f2 or p2 sinar camera instead of p3 with digital lenses, or is it strictly for cmv lenses?
And how about use with MF camera, like mamiya. Not possible then?

Hi,

I have a 54H myself. You need a cable from the lens to the back, and of course one from the back to the computer. I think I have a pdf manual somewhere.

The most comprehensive answers to all your questions can be found on this forum if you search for posts by Thierry Hagenauer, former Asia representative for Sinar. His user names are thsinar and ThierryH. He had a detailed explanation of how to use multi-shot in one of his posts.

PM me if you need more information.

This is the cable you need too synchronize the back with the lens.
