Both very nice.  Although I often wouldn't say this, in this case, I prefer #2 because of the building and particularly the story told by the people and dogs.

I'm quite taken by the second photo …The frame is filled with interesting subjects and the combination produces a wonderful image.

Thanks for the comments. That morning was wonderful, as following some rain the night before, there were clouds in the sky. Add to that the side low angle side lighting coming from the North, plus low tide, and some tide pools, we get some nice elements.

The problem is to get up at 5 am:) As for people walking the dogs, they make for interesting subjects, but during the summer season, they are not allowed to be there... dog poo and such...

Better than staying up!

Both are nice and I agree with the others that then second is the better of the 2 but not by much.

I like the repetitions, the clouds in 1, and the horizontal lines in the puddle, sand and sky in 2.

I love #1. That one really is all about the beach sky.

Here's my contribution.  Orgeon coast.  That's my wife there.  :)

Some great photos in this thread! Allow me to contribute my own, taken this past August at the Outer Banks of North Carolina just before sunrise.
