Not to get too techie, but I've got to say the Oly 40-150 with 1.4X is phenomenal.
Agreed. I did some closeup photography this late afternoon in my backyard with that combo. It just
etches whatever you put in front of it. The digital era has given us some truly superior lenses, and the 40–150mm is IMO one of 'em.
Nifty heron pics too! There's a rookery within easy driving distance from me, but the residents tend to be skittish when it comes to humans. Some years ago I did manage to take a photo sequence of a fishing heron attempting to swallow a large frog it had caught. The bird eventually gave up as the frog was just too big. But the attempts were many and kinda comical.
