Problems with the LFP panel for the Epson 7800
« on: June 20, 2015, 11:49:37 am »

Hi,
I have two epson printers, a 3880 I bought new and a 7800 I bought 2nd hand. Both are connected to the same network in my house. The 3880 was bought first and I use the LFP remote panel to keep an eye on job info. I would like to be able to see the same from the 7800. I run Win7 64 and the 7800 print driver is ver 6.62. Even though I can see the LFP icon in the 7800 print driver, when I press it to start, the only printer visible in it to select is the 3880. The 7800 isn't in the drop down box to select.
I have searched the Epson site bought had no luck finding any responses. I have also googled it to no effect.
I do recall last yr after a reinstall that I installed the 7800 driver before the 3880. There was no LFP icon available in the driver. It only became available after the 3880 driver was installed. I do not have the original install disc for the 7800 so can't see if there is a separate utility for it on the disc.
Any thoughts or assistance on this would be appreciated.

I think it only works with the 3800 and 3880. I tried to get it to work with a 9890 with no joy.

It is typical Epson. Here is a feature that would be even more useful on larger format printer, but no, it doesn't work. Masybe they are figuring that most larger format printers are still using RIPs; who knows?

Damn, I found the following link https://files.support.epson.com/pdf/pro78_/pro78_gd.pdf Page 49 talks about installing it when installing the printer driver for windows machines. Thats all I have managed to find though.
