A friend and I went to a huge beer place in Palm Springs, with like 400 different kinds of microbrew and imported beer, and we sat at the bar and he asked, "Do you have Miller Lite?" They said "No." He said, "Well, do you have anything *like* Miller Lite?"

German beer "must" be brewed with hops and malts, otherwise it's against the "Reinheitsgesetz" (rule of purity). The Eurocrates try to abolish this rule but thanks God without sucess. Here in Portugal there is no beer with hops or malts, its "real" artificial! Bud and 4X must be of the same piss. Thats why I prefer good Portuguese red wine, which is the best in the world, and its real! Even when I have to wet my throad.

Cheers!

Only because it can't be sold in its home country due to the fact that it tastes like over sweetened elephant urine.

I'm pretty sure that one cannot sweeten elephant urine enough.

Wow 23 messages so far (This being the 24th).

Imagine the number of replies if the semi nude lady actually revealed something and Michael left it on the forum. It would be in the hundreds the first day.

Beer and nudies, a photographers first two loves. Not necessarily in that order.

Somewhat off topic (what was the topic of this thread again?), but does anyone recall when they first started liking beer. Personally, at the age of 17, I am not a big fan of beer (seem to be the only teenager of that opinion to be honest). At home we drink Carlsburg, and while I can tell the difference between that and Bud/Miller beer (and even with some German beers, Keller comes to mind) I honestly dont care for any of them. I'd honestly rather have a glass of a dry French merlot than any beer.  I was just wondering whether anyone else had this experience too in their childhood?

Thanks, Stefan

The only answer anyone can give  is - print your statement off, put it in an envelope and read it in ten years time. If nothing else it will probably make you smile.

Let's get real about this. Beer is not nice tasting . As proof of this statement, all I ask is for someone to market 'beer' with zero alcoholic conrtent. See how their sales go   . Amongst these tasteless beer types are a few less  tasteless types, such as South Australian Coopers Ale, Guiness stout, Kilkennies Irish stout and maybe a few German beers.

It's all a big macho con, guys!

I for one am glad that nudes and semi nudes are not posted on this site, I'm afraid it would have gotten out of hand, (no pun intended) and infringed  on the intellectual thought  of the true purpose of this site. Having said that, I would have liked to have seen a larger picture to be able to judge the quality of the photo itself.

I have found... as you get older, you taste less... and you enjoy stronger tasting beer.

As far as I know, alcohol-free wine sells no better than alcohol-free beer (O'Douls is one example of the latter). Alcohol free vodka (a.k.a. bottled water) sells far better.

Hhmm! Perhaps that's my point. Alcohol-free beer should sell better. More beer is drunk than wine, in Anglo-Saxon countires anyway.

... the clear winner in my humble opinion is the one and only Delirium Tremens, easily identified by the pink elephants on the label.  You're going to need autofocus after a few of those :-)

If that's the one I'm thinking of (the local supermarket used to keep it) then by all that's righteous I agree with you. Wowzer!!!

UK based forum members who don't find it easy to track down great brews might enjoy this site - [a href=\"http://www.onlyfinebeer.co.uk/]http://www.onlyfinebeer.co.uk/[/url] - I have no connection BTW.

Hmmm... I rather think that forum members in the UK would do better to go to their local real ale pub, and steer well clear of just about anything in a bottle, and definitely keep well away from cans. The likes of Flowers Original, Pompeii Royal, Thomas Weathereds, Courage Directors, and the hundreds of other locally brewed masterpieces just cannot be matched by a lager overchilled to the point where you can't taste it.  As a young member posted above, it's chilled that far so you can't taste it - it's awful stuff otherwise!

You may gather that I'm an ale rather than a lager fan - very, very true, but I would definitely make exception for many of the excellent products to come out of Belgium.  DT and Chimay are certainly good examples, but there are thousands (lierally) of others - can't say I like the fruity stuff though!

Cheers!
PS - From one who used to work in the brewing industry - the search was always to create a beer which offended as few people as possible to appeal to the biggest possible market. Alcohol content couldn't be too high or you'd drink less of it before you fell over - too low and it tasted like civet urine. Hence the proliferation we have today of dumbed-down, bland, mass-unoffending bladder fillers.  Essentially the same stuff with just enough small difference to create brand differential.

I've resisted posting in this thread as long as I can stand it!

If you want a BIG, BIG, malty, hoppy beer, this is a great one: Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA.

http://www.dogfish.com/brewings/Year_Round...PA/11/index.htm

This beer isn't for the faint of heart!  It's for true beer lovers only.

The small repro on this site made it impossible to get any useful info on the image quality either (he said, desperately trying to justify commenting on the subject! )
