Cause it caught my curiosity.

Fred, you're still searching for the Holy Grail, an integrated post production app. I really don't think it's going to happen. Hitfilm looks pretty lame to me, nowhere near the power
needed in either editing or compositing.

The best deal still is Lightworks or Avid (paid for) and Blackmagic Resolve and Fusion, both free; for pro level work anyway. For simple stuff maybe Hitfilm is OK, but then many folks are still using Windows moviemaker, or whatever it's called.

Yes, it is weak. Lightworks is a beast for editing and I'm not going to change my mind on it. Also it's well integrated with Fusion and roundtripp is a brise.

But I think an App like Hitfilm could be interesting for a certain new generation filmakers. I've been checking a lot of tutos on it and the flexibility is quite impressive. I doubt that 95% of their users will ever have to use it at it's full potencial, even on paid stuff and it does things that Lightworks can't do and vice versa.
Is it as powerfull as Smoke? nooo. but not far. It's not Nuke, Smoke or Lightworks but it's got a bit of everything in a single package.
The future is there my friend (all-in-one), even Resolve will have more and more editing capabilities. IMO.

Does it produce an interchangeable xml file?

Only version 5, not the previous.

Ps: that I know. I'm not yet an expert on it. Only have a few days my hands on it.

Confirmed. I just checked in the PDF manual and copy-paste here :

Lightworks supports AAF / XML files from many applications including Avid, Resolve, Protools and EditShare Flow Browse. When you import an AAF, the frame rate of the AAF must match the frame rate of the project.
Lightworks also supports XML files generated from Final Cut Pro 7. These can be imported into Lightworks as long as they adhere to the XML version 5 protocol. Versions 4 and earlier cannot be imported into Lightworks.

Maybe I read your question wrong. By produce you meant export? in this case no. LW imports XML versión 5 but does not export. So far AAF but it seems that this is a feature they are working on it in the beta versión so I guess it will be posible to export very son.

Still a bit confusing I must say.  It appears that they implemented
xml export on the Mac version but not yet on pc.
(on pc it is not yet possible to export for sure but just import)

Bottom line: a work in progress...

I also see that the roundtrippin to Fusion is really great
Straighforward wich makes Fusion a logical part of LW
And the good thing is that Fusion (IMO) is much more intuitive to
Master than Nuke, being as powerfull. Personally I much much
Prefer Fusion than Nuke but that's just me. So those 2 apps working together give really lot of power. That said,
Very very carefull on the media management aspect. It's a little
Strict and no mess is the rule...

I only roundtrip from FCP 7 to Resolve 11.   Even doing it right it's always a crapshoot.

Not perfect in LW either.
Want to roundtripp to Fusion an edit on V4, enabled,
V5 above, blank on that edit disable.
Hit the button "launch fusion".
Fusion launches.
Blank! No footage on the read node.(more exactly a black footage)

Logical? Yes. V5 should have been enabled
Even if there's nothing. So got a "useless" node
Of the empty track wich is an alpha. Back on track.

But in practise, those "strict" behaviours are
Easy to mess-up in action because we have to
Constantly think about this that or the other.
A little mistake on the chain and it won't work
As it should. And they are so easy to make...
