Tilt shift for Sony A7R?
« on: June 16, 2015, 01:36:50 pm »

I understand my Nikon 24 T/s E won't work on my A7R because of the electronic shutter?

There was an older verison, sans E shutter, which should work, and the Samyang offerings seem adaptable, IMHO.

that right?

That's correct, the PC-E Nikkors will have no aperture control on an incompatible camera.

The pre-AF-era 28mm Nikkor Shift will work fine on your A7 however as it's 100% manual. The Samyang ought to work just fine as well, although I hear the optical performance is "merely-okay" compared to CaNikon's similar offerings.

If you have the money, the best 24mm Shift lens for A7 would probably be the Zukio 24mm f/3.5 Shift for Olympus OM-system. They're rare and a bit pricey, but performance is second-to-none (or so I read, I've never had the pleasure of owning one myself yet).

I own a Samyang and its nice for 5-6mm shift, not more.
Nikkor is marginally better (including flare resistance, distortion and built) but nothing in comparition with Canon's TS-E II version.

Olympus is overpriced but good.
Anyway there is more 28mm options - like Schneider-Kreuzhnach

Looks like there are Nikon adapters coming that will handle electronic aperture...

You might want to think about a Cambo Actus. It's a nice, tiny view camera with an excellent range of shift and rise/fall movments on the rear standard. Swings and tilts are on the front standard. The camera is highly configurable--lens mounts, camera mounts, etc. My kit includes adapters for the Sony A7 and Oly OMD EM-5 II. The Actus accepts medium format lenses, Copal 0 mount lenses, M39, and more.
