Triangulation
« on: June 15, 2015, 12:30:30 am »

A collection of triangles, which seem quite exotic to us prairie-dwellers.

Rundle is in Banff National Park Canada.
Fjord is in the Westfjords, Iceland.
Crumble is on the trail from Fjallsarlón to Jökulsarlón, Iceland.

Suggestions welcome; thanks for looking.

Wonderful landscapes.

I think I like these more than your seascapes.

For the first one I would consider a crop with a bit of the right cut off - so that the frame ends at the corner of the lower right corner of the triangle of pines.

Second one; love the composition (although I think it might feel a bit more balanced if the large rock was on the right of the frame rather than directly under the peak).  But if you you framed it that way you would lose the leading line coming from the bottom right... so I guess you can't have it all.

Well done again.

A nice trio. #1 is especially good and I don't think it needs cropping. I feel that the balance of the other two is fine. I wasn't there so it would be impossible to know what they would look like if you were to have moved left or right. I think the viewer has to trust your judgement as to the best composition? The layers in #1 are very appealing.

This is a good set and photo #1 is the strongest in my opinion. Photos #2 and #3 are also very appealing but triangles are not that obvious and I like the far/near composition very much.

Thanks, everyone. Jeevz, I agree that the rock in 2 should have been further right. But it was where it was.    ;)

Scott  - again, nice work. I think 1 and 3 are best comps - but need work in processing - need subtlety. Agree about rock in 2.../B

#1 is amazing, but I really like #3 as well. I went to a glacier hike recently and it didn't occur to me to shoot from a lower vantage point.

Thanks! I'll turn it down, Brandt. Polaris, that boulder is about 8 m tall, so I shot it standing. Hard to tell size in this oversized landscape.

I like very much the second, very primeval, then the third, with the equally primeval and somewhat ominous glacier on the background (I think it's a glacier). In the first there are two (or three) dark segments on the upper edge of the wooded mountain, perhaps they were produced in the PP, by darkening the sky. It seems a bit strange (too regular) also the form of the dark spot at the lower edge of the same mountain.
