chemo and alternative photography
« on: June 05, 2015, 01:45:20 pm »

Hello, I am going through chemo right now and have stopped doing my alternative photography, and b&w film development (still do digital) for fear of exacerbating the problem. I have searched the web and talked to my oncologist but could not get a definitive answer if i really needed to stop. I was hoping there might be doctors on this site who have expertise that could give me an answer.

You need to know the specific chemicals, exposure levels and routes ( inhalation, skin ), how they are processed in the body ( which organs, body chemistry affected) before a doctor in industrial medicine and your oncologist could start to help you.
There likely is not much hard data out there for the interaction between them n the body.
If skin absoption is not an exposure route, you might be able to wear a half face cartridge respirator with appropriate cartridges for the specific classes of chemicals to minimize inhalation hazards.

Best of luck with your treatment.
