Very nice.

I'm curious just where it was taken. It looks a little like Aalesund (half way up the West coast), but the snowy mountains suggest it was much farther north.

Yes Eric it was indeed taken at Alesund, about 2 weeks ago. We'd intended to do a road trip to Norway this year, but there are no ferries from the UK anymore and they finished the one to Denmark last year. Ths would have meant quite a long drive to get there via Holland, Germany Denmark and Sweden. Apart from that, Norway is very expensive and the hotel bills would have been astonomical. In the end we jumped onto a cruise ship leaving Liverpool on 11th May, one of the first cruises of the year to the fjords so it was very quiet wherever we went and we were the only ship in most ports. I'd never do another cruise of that type though as it's not really my 'thing'

It did give us an insight i Norway though and we want to go back and drive it, but we'll probably fly out to Bergen and pick up a hire car - and hang the expense, it's a beautiful country and nice people. Another thing we've looked at, and the only other cruise we would do would be on one of the Hurtigruten ships to Spitzbergen to see some wildlife.  It wouldn't be until 2017 though as were tied up with trips this year and next we're off to Canada for a while.

The 'stock' shot of Alesund from Mount Askla   :)

I love that "stock" view from Aksla. The light wasn't as good when I was there. But I have a nice one from the summit of Sukkertoppen, the mountain in the background, looking toward Aksla. I'll have to try to see if I can find it. It was from before digital.

My parents did the hurtigruten cruise one year and loved it, but I've never done it. I sure would like to.

We had planned to walk up Sukkertoppen but I hurt my foot a few days before we set off. I struggled the whole time we were in Norway with it as it happened. Instead we made a change of plan and decided to head for Alnes on Godoya instead but it turned out to be a bank holiday the day we were there and the bus service was severely reduced. We could have booked a shore tour from the ship but it was stupidly expensive. We had a good day in Alesund though, it's a lovely town and very interesting.
