XF and Leaf Credo
« on: June 02, 2015, 08:54:35 am »

Dealer 1 - not compatible. Correction. Compatible.

Dealer 2 - compatible. Correction. Not compatible.

Perhaps someone directly from Phase One or Leaf could step in at this stage?

Kind regards,

Gerald.

Seconded.

I am awaiting a reply from my local rep. Will update the thread when I receive it.

It would be very bad business if Phase shuts the door on the Credo customers. I very much prefer working with my Credo and have no interest in upgrading to an IQ3 back to use the new body.

History says Phase is more business savvy than Hass. I really hope this will be the case here too and in the worst case, the compatibility will be added in a while.

We have a conference call scheduled in 32 minutes and will (hopefully) confirm.

I agree with you Synn - my gut tells me it will come, but it will come later. That is only my gut - that is not an official statement of fact.

And yes, the information was so vast and so many elements were being decided last minute, that this could be something that was a"No" simply because Phase One had not yet decided how or when this (Credo compatibility) would occur.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Does seem odd though that for a camera that has been in development for (how many?) years, there is no support at launch, and not even clarity over when that support will be forthcoming.

  Sorry, that was off-topic. :)

Breaking news: edmund's getting itches in places that cannot be mentioned in public and probably needs medical attention.

My dealer has assured that the credo backs WILL work with the XF after a future firmware update as well, but that he cannot give a date for it just yet. Hope that info is helpful to the non troll, actual MF users here.

...and you can't afford either and are just floating nearby in a plastic dingy, pelting stones at the said cruise ship.
So why are you in this discussion?

Synn,

At this point, I'm going to find myself some decent brandy. Cheers!

This was the ultimate cruising ship:

A more modern variant is here:

This one faster, cheaper, safer and better, but less comfortable and can even transport over land:

But perhaps you prefer this one?

Best regards
Erik

The ironic thing about the horse and carriage Erik, is that you're the one with a V system.
Perhaps that didn't cross your mind. Happens.

Neither can I, for instance; a guy with very little medium format experience who does not own a kit now or has no plans to buy one in the future being allowed to post here like an expert and mislead newcomers to the forum.

Humor or not, it doesn't change the fact that Leaf for real has become Phase One's budget brand from a pure business perspective. If you want the latest and greatest MFD tech first, Phase One is your brand. Phase One won't release a flagship feature on Leaf before Phase One, there must be some motivation to the difference in price.

But the situation is a bit special, Leaf was independent before and a competitor to Phase One, they developed their own color profiles and some preferred Leaf's look over Phase One's, that is considered Leaf to be the superior brand (actually I think I'm one of them). This hasn't really changed, Leaf's colors are still distinctly different from Phase One's even if both are in Capture One now, and if you prefer them Leaf is still the superior brand to you. Then you can enjoy the better price that comes with the "budget" brand, but unfortunately need to suffer the delays in features too.
