There is an easier route:
Click on Manage My Account in LR's Help Menu.
Provide email and password.
On the page that opens, lower left corner, "Security and Privacy", subheading "Desktop App Usage Information", click Manage.
Uncheck the permission box.
Thanks. It was unchecked so I'm wondering if that's the default. I don't recall ever unchecking it. IF so, even more reason it's not on my radar or worry list.

It was checked for me, and I don't remember setting it. So maybe it's random :-)

Nah, random doesn't fit with a conspiracy theory. Adobe is using a highly sophisticated algorithm to determine whose editing needs to be monitored.

Just wondering if there has been any resolution to this issue.  Have the same issue as Robert Boire - where pretty well each time I start Lightroom 6 (perpetual license), it requires me to log in and enter my serial number again.  After 3 chat sessions totaling about 6 hours with Adobe staff, after trying numerous things on my computer - they finally said I had to delete all adobe products from my computer and then reload them.  It looks like there is a glitch in how they rolled out the licensing for this software.
