Lightroom 6 Upgrade/Install
« on: May 30, 2015, 09:49:30 pm »

So, I'm a sucker for upgrades; but are there any best practices about upgrading to LR 6?

Do I just follow the Adobe prompts or is there something I need to do with the previous catalog version before committing to the upgrade? I remember from the last upgrade recommendations were optimizing the catalog(s), along with re-naming catalogs for the new version was very important.

In LR 6 can you still send photos to Photoshop CS6?

If you want the standalone version - LR6 - be sure to follow the instructions on this post (http://forum.luminous-landscape.com/index.php?topic=99760.0). Otherwise, you will end up with the Creative Commons version - LR CC (unless that's what you want).

Yes, they're still keeping CS6 compatible.

Best practice would be to ensure you back up your current installation and catalogue before upgrading, so you've a viable restore option in the event of any problems.

My upgrade on W7 went smoothly without any problems, there also don't seem to have been any serious upgrading issues with LR6 reported here so far.
