Toned-Down Clarity?
« on: May 29, 2015, 07:00:18 pm »

Am I imagining this, or has the clarity adjustment been tamed somewhat in LR 6/CC?  A quick Google search didn't turn up any relevant information from Adobe, but I seem to be able to use somewhat higher values now without making my images look over-processed.

I don't believe it's been changed.

Which version of LR did you upgrade from? As earlier versions had a different process version. PV 2012 [LR5] was quite different in many ways from PV2010 [LR4].
Slider positions can be quite different for what may seem similar effects in different PVs.
However, +100 Clarity in PV 2012 with nothing else done seems identical to +100 Clarity in PV2010. But with other parameters altered, clarity in each PV can then seem very different.
Interestingly if looking at two variations of an image with PVs 2012 + 2010, they look a tad different from each other on second monitor in survey mode, but identical on main monitor when you flip between them.  ???

I was previously using LR 5.7 and PV 2012.  If the clarity functionality hasn't changed, it probably is my imagination.  (Or perhaps my standards have lapsed in my dotage.  Also quite possible, alas.)

clarity (at least the slider action and interface) did change pretty significantly from process 2010 to 2012, but PV 2012 was introduced in LR 4 (which was released in March of 2012).  PV 2010 was in LR 3.

Or, as I experience, I think my old tired eyes see differently at night then in the morning.
