Capture One 8 Video Tutorial Update
« on: May 25, 2015, 09:02:53 pm »

On Wednesday June 3rd I am scheduled to do a Capture One 8 update tutorial  Our plans are to show what is new since the C1 7 tutorial we already have available on the video section of this site.  Since I'll be doing this video with a representative from Phase One, now is the time to let me know if there is anything special you'd like covered during the update.  Requests will be taken right up to the night before our shoot.  We also plan to show a few power tips.  Looking forward to hearing from you.

Kevin,

Just last week purchased the C1 7 video set and even though I am running version 8.2 I found it most helpful. At the present time I am still going back and forth between C1 and Lightroom CC.

I am sure you already plan to do some round trip to Photoshop CC, but if not I would like to see you do that. Also maybe how is the best way to upload to SmugMug, 500PX and Flickr from C1.  From Lightroom as I am sure you are aware it is very simple with a plugin.

Will be looking forward to the release of C1 8.2.

By the way will there be any discount for those of us who just recently purchased C1 7 Videos?

Hey Stuart,

Its worth having a look at IFTTT.com for empowering cloud services like dropbox.

I.e If I process out images to X folder on Dropbox publish them to my 500px account.

Hi Kevin, I am so much looking forward to buy the tutorial. I moved form Aperture and bought your tutorial and I really like C1.
What I would love to see is:
a) Colour correction from basics until totally colour change, including split toning in colour.
b) Noise reduction and sharpening.

What I miss from Aperture are the database capabilities that are still missing in C1, so some tricks about how to overcome the missing features compared to Aperture/Lightroom could be great, in order for us to understand what are the differences and how we should overcome them.

Anyhow, thank you Kevin and hope Dave is also helping you with the tutorial.

Cheers,
Daniel

I always struggle with a -seems for me- simple local adjustment that's for me often needed:

In the background there's something bright out of focus (for example a sign or person with a colourful T-shirt) that I want to make less bright.

The curve is not usable as a local adjustment, so I usually struggle with highlight and exposure.  The exposure slider does make everything darker, thus also the borders off the local adjustment are getting darker.
In the end I often have to do it in an external editor.

Thanks David.  Will have to check this out.

Would like to add a couple of more to the up coming tutorial.
Since LRCC (6) now has HDR merge and Panorama merge within the program what would be the suggestion for handling both of these via C1?
This new feature in LRCC is something I really like and find it very useful.

David, just a followup as I just happen to find the built in Script for stitching with Photoshop.

If your representative from Phase One is going to work through some examples to show features / techniques can I ask, in a light hearted way, they use different images to those used in the Capture One webinars ?

As good as they are, using different images would be helpful.

Jeff

Then I would be interested in an example of using the recently new  Color Balance ( grading ) feature to adjust shadow, midtone &  highlight.

Kevin,

With the release of 8.3 this week will you be covering any of those current updates with your upcoming videoes?

The editors and I are working on getting LR CC out next followed by Capture One later this Summer.

Sorry, I cannot be more specific.
