Tetons
« on: May 23, 2015, 08:55:02 am »

I surprised my wife with two things for her birthday. A trip to the Tetons and a visit from our oldest living in D.C. So off we went, a merry band of travelers making the drive from northern Utah to the Tetons. The weather forecast was NOT brilliant and we were caught in showers with on again off again rain. We hiked a bit but we were all a bit nervous so we made a lot of noise as we went and encountered stunning views but no bear. That is until we had emerged from the trail and my daughter spotted one going to where we just came from! Okay...but on to Mormon Row. As I emerged from the car a band of showers were to the right with dark moody clouds hanging about. To the left the great earth gesture of the Tetons beckoned. Framed against this relic of a dead past you felt caught between worlds. I pressed on, the rain was coming, promising me in a low voice full of menace. I set up my tripod and mounted my trusted GX7 and now the clouds were really rolling in, eager to claim the sky and the darkness behind was rushing forward. It was now or never as I pulled the trigger and captured my moment at Mormon Row

Terrific capture and rendering of one my favorite places in the world. I'll be headed there in August.

It's a classic but with the sumptuous sky and the excellent processing, it's a beauty.
