Manually enter lens info in C1 Pro?
« on: May 13, 2015, 10:59:55 am »

According to Phase 1 help files, you should be able to manually enter lens info if it is not auto-detected.  In the Lens correction panel, within the "Movement" tab there are fields for Focal length, aperture, shift & rise.  Shift and rise are editable but the other two are not.  I'd like to be able to enter this info so that I have it in Metadata.  Anyone have experience with this?

You cannot currently change any EXIF Metadata (camera, aperture, shutter speed, lens, focal length etc) in Capture One.

There is software that will let you change EXIF Data (search for EXIF Editor or use Media Pro's option to write-out-changes to the raw file). It's also possible that Capture One will add such a feature in the future; I'd suggest submitting a support case with your feature request - every such support case is read and logged and that data is very important in the feature planning meetings in Copenhagen.

This would be really handy when shooting tethered.... and thus would help with creating a library of LCC's

I'd just like to be able to keep track of what lenses I use most and how much I shift.  I reckon I could carry a notepad...

I'll send Lionel and Jeppe a note.

For now the best way to do this is to use keywords or an otherwise-unused metadata field. I prefer keywords, but I only ever move in 5mm increments so there is a manageable number of options.

Start a support case (click "contact support" here). Tell them what you would like to see, and why. There won't be much of a direct reply (other than politely acknowledging they received your suggestion) but I assure you that the case will get logged in a master doc of what has been requested and how often, and when R+D meets to discuss priorities they look at that doc.

It's no guarantee that it will happen, and if it does happen there is no guarantee on how quickly, but I can say that many of the features in every release of Capture One come from user requests.
