Need to lubricate carriage on a 9600
« on: May 07, 2015, 02:22:53 am »

My 9600 sometimes make a not too loud grinding or scrapping noise as the carriage moves to te side away from the parking station.
I have never lubricate it before.
Questions;

What oil to use? I read here before that sawing machine oil or something light  similar could work.

Where is the best point of access to the rail or rails to be lubricated?  Do I need to remove the panel over the front plastic door?

You could try the hobby kit.

The lightest oil in the Nye Hobbykit is the one identical to the HP recommended (Nye) oil for the Z models. Some years ago I spend some hours to compare the specifications of the oils. However that is for a head carriage that glides on a chrome steel bar. I do not know whether the Epson head carriage rides or glides  on whatever bar material. So I did not reply yesterday and wonder whether the Nye oil is suited.

Met vriendelijke groet, Ernst
