Title: how did micheal do the metallic tree's ?

hi,

I am very impressed with the effect of the tree's in Michael's  " Woods and Yellow Jacket. Toronto – January, 2006" (currently in the main page).

does anyone know how to immitate such an effect (and variations) in photoshop ?
