PT Assembler, a shareware program from tawbaware.com, does an excellent job with both simple and complex panos.  It offers various levels of user control from fully automated on down.  The program is actually a user interface for the freeware program Panorama Tools which is very difficult to learn.  PT Gui is another program that provides a user interface for Panorama Tools.
