Title: Canon Angle Finder C
Post by: avanides on January 13, 2006, 12:40:43 pm
Has anyone tried this viewfinder? I've had a heck of a time finding reviews for it online, but it seems like a really useful little tool. I posted a topic complaining about fine focusing, and perhaps a product like this may help.

Oh, using a Digital Rebel

I use this on my 10D and find it very useful in many situations. It has two magnifications of the viewfinder image, I almost never use the higher one, it seems to be too high. The device allows one to have the camera in positions that would be uncomfortable otherwise, both lower and higher.

I believe that I get much better manual focus when using it.

This is one of those accessories that once used, you may wonder how you ever got along without it.  I have found it to be very helpful when using an Elan 7, Eos 3, and 20D.

I agree with Alan on every point, except that I use the higher magnification pretty often for macro work.

When I travel with a small tripod, the Angle Finder C has been a delight. Simply put, it saves me from having to contort to look thru the viewfinder. It definately reduces back pain!

That is the main reason I bought one.  (That and low angle stuff.)  It was cheap and light compared to the cost of buying a tripod big enough.  Works well enough that I've removed the center column from my feisol and gone with the fixed plate.

Actually I bought an angle finder b.  (I think it was $70 shipped from keh.)  Works fine on my 20D.  A little loose.  The minolta one is also supposed to work quite nicely with canons.

I haven't had any issues manually focusing with it.

I use the Nikon DR3 on my Nikon cameras when shooting close to the ground, which is most of the time. I recommend wrapping brightly coloured metallic tape around it so that you can easily find it when you put it down. I've already lost one, in the New Forest (England), and it cost about £100 used. It does dim the image somewhat making focussing a bit harder. However the large rubber eyecup is useful when using the DOF preview.
