Title: cs2 smart shapen(out of focus blur vs focus magic
Post by: spphoto on December 29, 2005, 12:17:35 pm
Hi,

Before I would invest the focusmagic plugin, can some tell me if it is better that cs2's smart sharpen feature?  I would only be referring to the out of focus blur, as that is probably what I would be using.

thanx!

Focus Magic is well worth its price. I use it for capture sharpening (Radius 2, 75% works great for counteracting the effects of the AA filter in Canon DSLRs), and for removing moderate camera shake (<5 pixels of blur). It does work as advertised, within limits. But once you have to set the radius at 5 pixels or more, you should probably reshoot. Focus Magic is the best at what it does, but you can't make a silk purse out of an out-of-focus sow's ear.
