Hope he doing ok.

Crhiss I think your a Genius,,You doing an excelent work.

Michael do you salle photos 5-7 ? Is a photos the I like to have from you,,( a man smoking and the moon light in the water,,I think he is your friend...I think is the best photo I had ever seeing. You are A Genius too.

PS. Chriss, I love the music and do you don't like overlap? I think some of the photos or Michael,s speaking can be overlap...Only my opinion.

I've no idea if he is going to be in any more LL DVDs or not. But he is currently doing his own line of DVD's. I think the second one is due out real soon now.

You are quite correct! I do not use dissolves - where a cut works better - in my opinion

This really is a matter of taste - where the editor (me) determines a scene transition to work better either as a cut or a dissolve.

Dissolves or cross fades imply a time lapse or change of place. Or they can simply be used to hide a bad cut - I use soft cuts or very short dissolves when I have no choice or where the shift in time/place is appropriate.

I think of dissolves as a very long blink: closing your eyes for a while and then re-opening them to find yourself displaced in time or place. This is great for langurous, dreamy sequences of film but generally speaking I like to be awake. Or at least I try. . . but after 1000 hours of watching the LLVJ . . .

What, are you implying that the LLVJ isn't entertaining enough to watch for more than 1000 hours?

Chris,

Your comment reminds me of watching a movie (back in the days of celluloid) when the film jammed in the projector and caught on fire. We (the audience) all watched the film burning up right before our eyes. Then we waited what seemed like 15 minutes before anything else happened. I think somebody finally went up to the projection booth to wake up the operator!

But I must add that I like the snappy transitions in the LLVJ, and I never fall asleep in front of it. But then again, I usually only watch each one maybe three or four times, nothing like your 1000 hours or so.

Post by: kaelaria on December 24, 2005, 10:03:12 pm: I just watched Steve's DVD. It was ok, but LL is 10x better, IMO. This DVD was 90% history lesson/video tour, 10% shooting content, not at all the tech format of the LL series. I'll get every future LL disc, but am not sure if I'll get any more of these.
