Title: Just a colored pattern shows on the screen

I just bought a new 24" Dell monitor and now the video journals menus display fine but the video is just a colored patern on the screen.  What did I do? Maybe the resolution is too high on the new monitor?

What DVD Player software are you using to view the DVDs?

There should be an option to display at the native resolution of NTSC video which is 720 x 480. The 16:9 material is that same resolution also but anamorphically squeezed. A DVD player (set-top box or sftw.) should automatically detect this ratio change and display it correctly on your TV or monitor.
