Anybody?
I understand that the PC system requirements to run Photoshop is either Windows 2000 or Windows XP (32 bit version) which is listed on Adobe's website. The reason I'm asking is I just purchased a comp system with CPU that supports EM64T (extended memory technology) However, there's no way for me to get the 64 bit operating system software except by downloading a free 180 day trial version from Microsoft's website. Some of the device drivers can be had on Dell's website. I also noticed that Epson have the "x64" printer driver available for download (for Photo stylus 2200) on their website.

As far as I know, the Microsoft offer to download WinXP Pro x64 ended on 7/31. Now we have to wait to see if it ships for real.

In my neck of the woods, you still can download the trial version.

Windows XP x64 will support 32bit apps so CS & CS2 will run on this platform. You just wont be able to access memory above 4GB. Device drivers are still an issue for a fully functional system.

What are you doing for color calibration of your monitor(s)? Also, what about antivirus software?
I currently use Norton Internet Security and Monaco EZ Color, neither of which are compatible with x64.
Thanks.

Definitely food for thought regarding monitor calibration.
Regarding antivirus software, my plans for my new computer system is to use it offline only and without antivirus software to keep it bug free and as fast as possible to run PS CS. I've heard many times by different folks that Norton software burdens a computer big time. Instead of selling my 4 year old Pentium 3, will keep it for online use.

Hi,
I am currently getting a new system going with Windows 64-bit too, have found a compatible (free) antivirus program - avast!, available at
http://avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html (http://avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html).
AVG pro is also compatible, but the free version is not.
I have also found that Nikon software (which will not install on 64 bit Windows), can be made to, by (prior to installation), selecting the "setup.exe" program, right clicking, and selecting "compatibility" tab, and choosing "Windows Xp" in the "Compatibilty Mode" box, and then proceeding with the installation. This gives full functionality to Picture Project on the 64 bit system as far as I can determine, including installation of NEF plugins into Photoshop.
regards
Terry
BTW Photoshop 7 runs just fine on the 64 bit system

Thanks.
Now how are you handling color calibration for your monitor with WinXP X64?
I'm currently using Monaco EZ Color 2.5 and their Optix colorimeter. I've been very happy with this combo.
