This is from my most recent trip to Southern California. The sky was straight gray the majority of the trip, but right near the end of the day one afternoon a bit of color broke through.

A beautiful sweep of light, colour and land (well, sea). Is there anything more to the right? It seems it's cropped just a bit thinly there.

Good fortune always favours the ones who persist. Well done.

La Jolla Shores beach looking north to Scripps Pier, correct? Lovely in all respects.

There's a seawall. Not particularly picturesque, but not particularly bad either. I don't recall exactly what caused me to frame like this - might have been the sky or as I recall the beach was pretty crowded that afternoon. I don't disagree with your general thought, but if I had to guess, I probably framed like this to retain the simplicity of the composition.
Paolo - thanks much. It was a frustrating trip, but I did get some decent B&W work done.
Bob - Exactly the place. Thanks for the compliment!

I'm guessing he's framed it without people to distract.

This is my kind of image. Nothing to criticise. Well done.
