Title: Contax 645 electronic cable release?
Post by: lowep on June 29, 2014, 06:23:55 am
I am trying to figure out if any other electronic cable release apart from the original contax one works with the contax 645?

Hello Lowep,

I'm using a cheap RS-3001 (that's the code on the box, but no maker is indicated, China one...) cable release found on Ebay some years ago, it's compatible with Canon 400D, 450D or Pentax K20D, K100D so if you look for them I think you will find it.

Regards

Thanks Rob for this suggestion. I found a RS-2001 made by the same mob as yours and it also works fine. Not sure but based on this experience my guess is that any cable release with a sub-mini connection may work fine with this beast. Now this is solved I am just happy the problem I had turned out to be a dead OEM Contax cable release that could be replaced for a few dollars rather than some fault with the electronic innards of the camera.
