Title: No click through on front-page images?
Post by: dreed on June 29, 2014, 02:44:28 am
It used to be that if the front page image was clicked on then it would take the person doing the web browsing to another page with a larger presentation of that image without all of the text. That behaviour seems to have been lost? Deliberately?

Why is this important to me?

Because the current layout makes the images (such as "Heavy Metal") harder to focus on and digest when they're always surrounded by text and ads. Or maybe another way of saying this is that I'm no longer able to easily treat what's presented as art, rather it is now just a sign post to look in the articles menu.

Use Firefox -- right-click menu item "View Image"

Dreed,

We are certainly aware of the limitation and we are working on some things.  A bit of patience and with some work we may get to the point where you can pixel peep all you'd like.

Meanwhile if you want to look closer at an image the same images are usually posted on my blog (http://kevinraber.com) and you can click twice to enlarge then you get a magnifier button and you can then see an image even bigger.

Just be aware that I only post 10 inch size images to the blog for size considerations.

It's not pixel peeping - if I wanted to do that, I'd download it or open it as above (see Isaac).

I just miss being able to click on the image and get a larger presentation of it without all of the distractions (ie ads and text about stories, etc).

I've noticed it absent for a while but the Heavy Metal image mind me think of it more because as an image, I need to look at all of it and not just the centre of the image. Thus as my eyes start to explore it, they get distracted by ads.

Just wanted to make sure it was a known issue. I'll be patient.
