IMO, it is very difficult to make a photo from this type of subject really work. It is difficult not to end up with a photo that is no more than a "record", a general view of the path and trees. Sometimes, when there is some fog or dramatic light, a layer of mystery can be added, to spike the interest.

I am sure that walking along this path, with this light and weather, was a great experience, but it is very difficult to transmit that sensation to the viewer who was not there.

Having said that, I like the freshness of the greens, and the fallen tree that goes against the trend.

I think this foto makes for a good start for thinking how to make an 'every-day-scene' resonate with the viewer. Paulo's comments are certainly true of  many attempts to express the less dramatic (you might call it the anti-Grand Canyon theme). Unfortunately most of them do fall short as creative works. But surely there's beauty of a kind in nearby landscapes. To me, the trouble's not in the landscape, but in my own shortcomings.
I applaud Dwayne's courage !
