Title: First Look and Overview of the new Leica T-Type (Video)
Post by: Brian Hirschfeld on April 26, 2014, 12:05:07 am
Hey guys, I got the chance to play with the new Leica T-Type over at the Leica Store SoHo in NYC today, and would like to share with you my findings.

Hope the video lives up to everyones standards, I've worked very hard to refine my set-up to deliver the best audio and video possible :)

I know I was skeptical of this camera, and as a Leica purist I am not a proponent of this camera, however I do understand its place in the market and the reasons that Leica created it. Viewing it through that lens (pun intended) this camera is actually very cool and has a number of unique features which make it a reasonably compelling mirrorless camera which can deliver some decent performance. Of course, this system will be (perpetually?) plagued by two issues, 1) being kept up to date, you can't update this camera the way you can a more inexpensive CSC and 2) limited number of lenses, since most of them are being produced in Germany, things will be slower.

All that said, again, its a pretty cool camera and certainly fun and worthwhile to go play with and check out, you can head over to my website (linked below) to check out a bunch of sample images and a few of my thoughts on them which will be online within the next half hour.

Best,
BH

Hi Brian, the lenses are being manufactured by some unnamed company in Japan.

I know the 18-56mm lens is being made in Japan, but I believe that I was told that the 23mm is being made in Germany, though this may be incorrect.
