Title: March 27,1881
Post by: OnlyNorth on March 26, 2014, 03:54:18 pm
At 27 march 1881(NS) the Danubian Principalities got The Kingdom of Romania under Karl Ludwig of Hohenzollern and Sigmaringen (as Carol I),the second son of the Prince Karl-Anton of H.& S.When I arrived at Sigmaringen,Black Forest,Germany and  looking at this full parking-car I thought   there is no chance to visit "my" castle.

Small correction:
Sigmaringen is located around 80 km east of the southern black forest and not inside of it.
It is at the river Danube, where the river leaves its 40 km long break-through through the range of the Swabian Alb, south of the plateau.

Cheers

When I saw that car on the road I was glad to be not the last.

That is the best example of what easily is for an auslander -with two points upon the second a- to move an entire mountain chain like an ordinary military commander :)Thank You for this "small correction"

What a fate! Carol I, a man from upper Danube, came here to lower Danube to transform two entities, which were joined(1859) on paper only, into a country first and then into a kingdom!

Initially   I thought that all the owners of the cars from that parking were at my castle, but the reality was not on my side :)

When I arrived at the castle only a few tourists waited to visit it.

The tourist must pay a few euros for a guided tour of the castle. There are written explanations in several languages because the guide speaks only German.

All our group, excepting us,was German speaker.Being a small one, between them and the guide was a good intercourse that exceeded the written explanations.

Although walking through the castle, it can say that a "German air" is visible,an European style is much more present. It is hard to know if that is the administrators' "fault". If there is no implication, then, it seems easily to understand how a French Emperor(Napoleon III) introduced a German Prince to the Romanians...Of course, that is a side of the luminous face of the European style....The wars between them representing only one side of the dark face of the same European style.

A good view has more meanings,as you could see.Me,who arrived from France,to visit the castle where my first two kings spent their childhood ,discovered that my Carol I had two grandmothers with French blood, one being niece in law of Josephine de Beauharnais and the other niece of Joachim Murat. All these in the middle of French feast in Sigmaringen,Germany. ...What a subtle link!...

Thank You
