Not unlike Timothy Wolcott (http://www.luminous-landscape.com/forum/index.php?topic=86948.0), I enjoy the challenge of finding a unique perspective of oft-photographed subjects at iconic locations. I made this image of Delicate Arch several years ago, shortly after moving to Moab. It was mid-November and the throngs of tourists were gone. A small workshop group was there, and a handful of tourists, but it was surprisingly quiet and peaceful. I'd been into the bowl below Delicate Arch a number of times already but on this evening I was excited to find an old juniper snag and a few hardy yuccas that made an interesting foreground, along with some friendly clouds in the sky above the arch. It is a perspective I'd not seen before or since, and one my gallery clients seem to enjoy. This image is part of my "Moab in Monochrome" series that will be on exhibit at the Bighorn Gallery in May and June of this year.
Thanks for having a look.

I like it, especially the way the branch of the tree follows the curvature of the arch.

A really good shot - even if the subject was not an iconic location!
